Jazz and Books--the Perfect Combination

Spent the evening at the Baker Street Bookstore in Black Diamond, Washington.  This is a great local bookstore with an "Old West" flavor.  The building is from the 1800's and until the current owner set up shop, was a bar.  Age permeates every nook-and-cranny of the place.   Signs are posted that suggest (strongly):  Turn off your cell phones. They mean it.  Lots of seating available and they have live jazz on certain nights of the month.  If you go during regular business hours (the music happens at night) you can also enjoy some of the other great little shops along Black Diamond's main drag.  They also house one of the better museums in the area.  Check out the bookstore for more information: http://bakerstreetbooks.net/

Extreme Production

I had one of those rare days where the fingers were flying and the keys were keeping time to my thoughts.  Several good starts to poems and the outline for what I hope will become my first book and the key to my successful MFA application process.
